Laser hair removal is the absorption of light energy (the laser beam) in melanin (hair colour) with heat to actively destroy the hair follicle causing it to stop producing hair growth.
For laser hair removal to work, the hairs must have colour (some red, bronde, brown or dark colour) and must be in the active growing stage (anagen) – unfortunately no one can tell which stage of growth a hair is at but we do know that at any given time 15/20% of the volume of hair in an area will be in anagen stage and this is why there is a selected time in between appointments, to try and catch hairs in the best stage.
Our device offers contact cooling to eliminate the feeling of heat at the time of procedure making it virtually pain free.
For laser hair removal to work best it requires the following:
- Client Cooperation with pre and post info
- Catching hairs in anagen (we switch up your sessions to ensure this)
- Hairs with melanin (colour in the hair)
Unwanted facial/body hair (Hypertrichosis/Hirsutism) is one of the biggest concerns for a lot of people.
Whether it is hormonal, transitioning or for aesthetics reasons, having unwanted hair can have a
massive detrimental effect on a person’s life, laser hair removal is the best option for long term hair reduction
giving results that waxing, tweezing or shaving simply cannot achieve.
It also has massive benefits for people who suffer from shaving rash, folliculitis or ingrown hairs by targeting
the root of the problem and reducing the hair follicle’s ability to produce hairs.
Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments (initial course of 6) because hairs grow in different
phases. Its necessary to repeat treatments at the intervals recommended by the therapist to achieve
best results. Missing a treatment could mean missing the optimal stage of hair growth for removal,
thereby increasing the number of treatments required.
Maintenance treatments can be anywhere from 3-12 months depending on results after 6 sessions.
*Many hair follicles remain dormant on the body & can start producing hair at any time. With laser hair removal we aim for 80% reduction in the treated area & maintenance appointments to treat any regrowth.
We aim for 80% success rate, but this can vary from client to client.
Our laser technology aims to destroy as many hair follicles as possible although many hair follicles can
be dormant and start producing hair at any point. Therefore, we can’t guarantee 100% results and why
maintenance treatments are recommended.
All areas we treat can be found on our price list, also check ‘areas included’ questions to find out if
the area you are looking for is also covered as part of another treatment. For example, perianal is
included in most intimate area options.
The depth of follicles varies in each area, because we are trying to catch the hairs in the anagen (growing phase) we will vary the weeks between your appointments
Facial Areas – between 4-6weeks
Body (underarm, torso or intimate area) – between 6-8weeks
Arms & Legs – between 8-10weeks
